Pasir Ris Park 20 Feb 2020

What an exciting day. My visit was greeted with this helpless nature. Spotted the home of the Laced Woodpecker home was being taken over by the monitor lizard. Lucky the woodpecker was smart enough to fly away and not return. But I was wondering if the other woodpecker that we spotted on 1st Feb safe?
An hour later when I came back, saw this woodpecker flew in front of me. Yes, he is safe. Yes!!!
Was enjoy the water and have a rest after the rain. Realised this boardwalk is so beautiful.

While in the mangrove forest, I tried to capture a shot of this bird. The Greenback Flycatcher. This bird moves around very fast and is always on top of trees. My camera has a zoom of only x28. So it is always a challenge to capture any birds. Today, I got it at last. Wow.

While trying to capture the flycatcher, I chance upon the magpie robin sleeping here.

Was having my lunch at the Kitchen Garden and this white parrot flew pass. When I went searching for it,  saw the parrot munching on a fruit.

Look at the parrot, he/she is enjoying it.
I have been to this park so many times but never visit the beach. Today, I decided to enjoy the sea breeze and the seaside view.

Opposite is Pulau Ubin. The the sea, there are  kelongs for fish farming.
Spotted the Magpie Robin while walking back via Sungei Tampines towards the fishing pond.

This fishing pond here is big.

There is a cafe here too

Spotted the white collar kingfisher at the fishing pond.

Can have food in the hawker centre and watch people fishing at the pond.
My trip ends here after 4 hours here. Wow, I will be back again.

Punggol Waterway

Punggol Waterway park is a long waterway stretching from Sunrise Gateway Bridge (Near Lorong Halus)  in the east to Jewel Bridge (near Sumang Walk) on the West. As it is a long waterway, I usually explore part of the waterway in one trip. I usually start from Punggol Road, where the Kelong Bridge is.
Here, I am going to show you what you will see from Kelong Bridge (Punggol Road) towards Oasis Terrace then to Gateway Sunrise Bridge.
Kelong Bridge is accessible via Punggol Road. It sits almost in the middle of the waterway.
It is nice to cross the Kelong Bridge and have take a look at the surrounding.
Look at water, trees and spot birds on top of trees.
Olive backed sunbird. The bridge act as a tree top look out. My favorite place to spot for bird on top of this tree.
I like to climb up to the higher ground and look down. The view is awesome.

Fancy how, I normally spot these birds here. Seem like this is their residence. Black-naped-oriole, Yellow Vented Bulbul, Asian-glossy-starling and Straited Heron.
Mynar, White-throated-kingfisher, White-collared-kingfisher are also common residents here.
Walk towards the east (Right), you will come across this bridge. Funny how there is no name to this bridge.
I like the design of this bridge.

Continue to walk next to the waterway towards the east (right). You will come across the Wave Bridge. Wave Bridge connects us to Oasis Terraces. This is a Shopping Mall with a garden concept. You can go for a tea break or toilet break here before you continue your next journey.
Continue to walk eastwards(following the waterway) will lead us to Sunrise Gateway Bridge.
However, if we turn left following the split canal, will lead us to Coney Island.

Notice the bridges built here are handicapped friendly. So it is also good for people with shopping trolleys or for parents with children in strollers.

Walk further east and we will see that the plants planted in the waterway get more dense and there are look out for us to check on wildlife like birds and herons and Waterhens.
200217 Spotted this pair of  Blue Heron near Sunrise Gateway Bridge. They look very hungry.

200217 Spotted  this pair of Red-whiskered-bulbul while I was walking towards Sunrise Gateway Bridge.
The entrace to the Sunrise Gateway Bridge

Take a break at Sunrise Gateway Bridge, enjoy the scenery of  the river and Bridge to Lorong Halus.

Hindhede Quarry (Bukit Timah Reserve)

Hindhede Quarry, another quarry located within Bukit Timah Reserve.
This quarry is rather small, with a small look out. So can be quite a squeeze especially when someone try to pose for a picture here.

Do spot for Colugo when you are here.
Hike the "mountain" after Hindhede. The track is short and easy.
With some steep slope

Steps at the last park of the hike
This is the highest peak in Singapore.
Unfortunately if you are looking for view, I am afraid there is none.
How to get there.
Take a train to Beauty World Train Station. Walk for at least 20mins to reach the park. Track further.

Singapore Quarry (Bukit Timah Reserve)

Located within Bukit Timah Reserve Park, this is another quarry that was retain and kept as a National Park. Compared to Hindhede Quarry, this is a bigger place and I love this place. A place where we can enjoy some higher grounds with water.
After this place, try hiking to Bt Timah Summit by following the signages.
This road runs parallel with Upper Bukit Timah Road. Plenty of big trees and it is very shaddy to walk towards the quarry.

Rambutans trees can be spotted here

Plenty of monkeys around. So take care of your belongings. If you bring food, do keep them properly. Otherwise the monkey may snatch them away from you.
How to get there
Take a train to Hillview MRT station
Walk towards the back for the MRT station and follow the signage to Singapore Quarry accordingly
