Punggol Waterway park is a long waterway stretching from Sunrise Gateway Bridge (Near Lorong Halus) in the east to Jewel Bridge (near Sumang Walk) on the West. As it is a long waterway, I usually explore part of the waterway in one trip. I usually start from Punggol Road, where the Kelong Bridge is.
Here, I am going to show you what you will see from Kelong Bridge (Punggol Road) towards Oasis Terrace then to Gateway Sunrise Bridge.
Kelong Bridge is accessible via Punggol Road. It sits almost in the middle of the waterway. |
It is nice to cross the Kelong Bridge and have take a look at the surrounding. |
Look at water, trees and spot birds on top of trees. |
Olive backed sunbird. The bridge act as a tree top look out. My favorite place to spot for bird on top of this tree. |
I like to climb up to the higher ground and look down. The view is awesome. |
Fancy how, I normally spot these birds here. Seem like this is their residence. Black-naped-oriole, Yellow Vented Bulbul, Asian-glossy-starling and Straited Heron. |
Mynar, White-throated-kingfisher, White-collared-kingfisher are also common residents here. |
Walk towards the east (Right), you will come across this bridge. Funny how there is no name to this bridge. |
I like the design of this bridge. |
Notice the bridges built here are handicapped friendly. So it is also good for people with shopping trolleys or for parents with children in strollers. |
Walk further east and we will see that the plants planted in the waterway get more dense and there are look out for us to check on wildlife like birds and herons and Waterhens. |
200217 Spotted this pair of Blue Heron near Sunrise Gateway Bridge. They look very hungry. |
200217 Spotted this pair of Red-whiskered-bulbul while I was walking towards Sunrise Gateway Bridge. |
The entrace to the Sunrise Gateway Bridge |
