Located between Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 and Sin Ming Avenue, stretches from Upper Thomson Road to Marymount Road. This park is huge and we can find peace in this park. There is a balance for what you want to do here. You may come here to visit the cafe or just to look at the wetlands gardens. Otherwise have a walk next to the river stream where fishes and monitor lizard can be spotted. Centrally located if we do not want to go too far for a park.
Date of visit : Feb 2020
We parked our car at Ang Mo Kio Street 22 and walked over to the park via the overhead bridge. Look at the bougainvilleas. So pretty on the overhead bridge. |
The Lily pond is one of my favourite |
We are lucky to visit during the lotus flowers blooming season. Look at the beautiful lotus flowers. |
Lotus pond |
Birds watching is another activity to do when in the park. The above is the Asian Koel.. We spotted both the male and female Koel here. |
Spotted quite a number of Purple heron next to the river. Herons are uncommon in Singapore but according to Npark website, they are resider breeder. |
Spotted the Oriental-magpie-robin and Olive-back-sunbird |
We walked towards Lower Pierce Reservoir and ended at this corner, where the reservoir meets the river towards Kallang River. |
We realised this is an Oasis of birds residing here. We can see sunbirds, flycatchers, Kingfisher and hear Robin singing. Other birds also appear here but I do not know its name. |
White Throated Kingfisher - 2 of them |
Spotted this tiny bird - Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Female) |
Guess what we spotted at the beginning of Kallang River |
Yes, a wild bore sleeping in the drain. |
It will be easier to take a train to Ang Mo Kio station, then change to a feeder bus 262. Best to stop at Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, near Block 223 as there are more happenings over this side of the park.
